Det blir stadig vanskeligere å være skeiv aktivist i Polen. De blir ofte trakassert, truet og utsatt for vold for sin fredelige innsats for skeives rettigheter, og er ekstra utsatt på grunn av en veldokumentert homo- og transtransfobi som går hele veien opp til landets regjering og president.

Aktivister opplever en målrettet overvåking og trakassering av politiet, og blir forsøkt brakt til taushet gjennom rettssaker som kriminaliserer deres politiske engasjement 😔 De langvarige rettsprosessene fører til økonomiske belastninger som bøter og advokatutgifter, samt dårligere psykisk og fysisk helse.

Til Tromsø kommer den modige lhbtiq-aktivisten Magda Dropek, for å fortelle om kampene polske aktivister står i, og kampanjekoordinator i Amnesty International Polen Mikołaj Czerwiński som skal fremlegge funnene i en ny rapport om skeiv aktivisme i Polen. Samtalen er på engelsk og ledes av Patricia Kaatee i Amnesty International Norge.

 

Life as a queer activist in Poland: threats, harassment, and violence

It is becoming increasingly difficult to be an LGBTQ+ activist in Poland 🇵🇱 Activists are often harassed, threatened, and subjected to violence for their peaceful efforts for queer rights, and they are extra vulnerable due to a well-documented homophobia and transphobia that is found all the way up to the government and the president.

Activists experience targeted surveillance and harassment from the police and are attempted silenced through trials that criminalize their political activism. The long legal proceedings lead to financial burdens such as fines and legal fees, as well as poorer mental and physical health.

The brave LGBTQ+ activist Magda Dropek is coming to Tromsø to talk about the struggles for Polish activists You will also meet campaign coordinator Mikolaj Czerwinski who will present the finding in a new report about queer activism in Poland. The conversation will be in English and will be led by Patricia Kaatee from Amnesty International Norway.
